Three Club Olympia Swimmers qualified and were invited to be a part of Team Indiana as it competed for the 2022 Central Zones 14&U Championship this past weekend in Elkhart, Indiana. This annual championship meet takes the best swimmers from the state to form Team Indiana which competes against teams representing Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. This past weekend, with many of its State qualifiers off or competing elsewhere, 34 Club Olympia swimmers competed in the 2022 Indiana Swimming Long Course CE Divisional Meet in Franklin, Indiana. Given only three sites held Divisional Meets in Indiana this year, the CE Divisional, with a record 714 athletes, was one of the most competitive Divisional Championships ever held. Twelve Club Olympia Age Group Level Swimmers competed this past weekend in the 2022 Indiana Swimming Age Group State Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis. Eleven Club Olympia swimmers competed in the 2022 Indiana Swimming Senior State Championships this past weekend. The meet, comprised of over 1000 of the state’s top senior swimmers (typically high school and college age) who met difficult qualifying time standards was held on the campus of Indiana University at the Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center. This past weekend, Columbus’ Club Olympia joined several of Greater Indianapolis’ larger swim clubs to compete in the Summer Spectacular Invitational at the historic Riviera Club near the campus of Butler University. The four day event combined one night of distance events, one night of sprint events followed by two mid-distance events, and two days of traditional invitational events in the unique 50M pool laid out in the middle of the Riviera’s recreational pool which is enjoyed by club members and their families during the competition. During the month of June, several Club Olympia swimmers have spent time participating with Indiana Swimming in clinics and training camps and competing in Central Zones meets for Team Indiana. This past weekend athletes from Club Olympia competed in national level championship swim meets in both Indiana and Florida. Six club swimmers, led by 15 year old Ashley Freel, competed at the Speedo Sectionals meet in Indianapolis, while Misha Machavariani competed in the Open Water Junior Nationals in Fort Myer Beach, Florida.
