2022 LCM Age Group States

Twelve Club Olympia Age Group Level Swimmers competed this past weekend in the 2022 Indiana Swimming Age Group State Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis.  Club Olympia boys and girls combined placed 17^th overall in the team competition which was won by the Carmel Swim Club and followed by clubs from Fishers, South Bend, and Fort Wayne in the top four.   Club Olympia’s boys team took 8^th overall with the 10U boys placing an impressive 3^rd , one point out of 2^nd, behind Carmel and Irish Aquatics from South Bend.

Club Olympia swimmers took the top honors in four events on the weekend and grabbed 2^nd five times with one third place finish.  In total Club Olympia claimed 15 podium finishes in individual events and had two relay teams climb the podium.

Nine year old Tony Machavariani, competing in the 10U division, placed no worse than third in his six individual events and claim the 2^nd place 10U boys High Point Trophy.   He was 1^st in the 100 Fly and 200 IM, 2^nd in the 50 Fly, 100 Free, and 200 Free, and 3^rd in the 100 Breast.  Machavariani also added two relay team medals to his total.

Josh Pendleton finished 4^th place in points among the 11/12 division boys.   Pendleton was 1^st in the 200 Fly and 400 Free, 2^nd in the 100 Fly and 200 Free, and 4^th in the 200 IM and 12^th in the 200 Backstroke.

Shreyan Kulkarni, competing in 10U boys, placed 3^rd in the 100 Fly, 6^th in the 200 IM, and 7^th in the 100 Breast.   Kulkarni was 9^th in the 200 Free, 12^th in the 100 Free, and 15^th in the 50 Fly.

Connelly Furnish, competing in her first State Championship as a 13/14 year old, took the 7^th place medal in the 1500 M (Mile) event.  Furnish also placed 11^th in the 800 Free, 12^th in the 400 IM, 15^th in the 200 IM, 18^th in the 400 Free, and 22 in the 200 Free and set personal records in all six events.

Lane Mellencamp, competing in his first ever State Championship, placed 34^th in the 50 Free, 36^th in the 100 Free, and 38^th in the 200 Free.

Club Olympia fielded four 10U boys relay teams on the weekend.  The team of Machavariani, Kulkarni, Xavier Zhang, and Daxton Wolf took the 5^th place medal in the 200 Medley relay and 6^th in the 200 Free relay.

Vivan Shah (8), Shourya Malviya (10), Aahan Gupta (9), and Chad Pendleton (7) took 25^th in the 10U Boys Medley Relay.   Arjun Agarkar (10) joined Shah, Gupta and Pendleton to take 22^nd in the 10U Boys 200 Free Relay.

This coming weekend Club Olympia will compete in the 2022 Indiana Swimming CE Divisionals Champsionship in Franklin, Indiana comprised of teams mostly from the southeast corner of Indiana.
