CLUB OLYMPIA SWIMMERS “DUEL” and “DUAL” AT MEETS IN HOUSTON, TEXAS AND FRANKLIN, INDIANA

This past week, Club Olympia swimmers competed in Houston, Texas, against Team Illinois and Team Gulf, as members of the Team Indiana All-Stars at the “Duel in the Pool,” as well as in a 14&U “Dual” meet with the Franklin Regional Swim Team (FRST) in Franklin, Indiana.

Ashley Freel and Joshua Pendleton represented Club Olympia on the Team Indiana All-Stars.  16-year-old Freel finished 3rd in the 200 Fly, 5th in the 100 Fly, 6th in 200 Free, and 10th in the 100 Back.  Freel was also part of two top-six relay teams for Team Indiana.

Pendleton, who just turned 12 in April, finished 3rd in the 11-12 Boys 400 Free, as well as 6th in the 200 Free, 100 Fly, and 200 IM.  Pendleton was also part of two top ten relay teams.  

This past Tuesday, Club Olympia’s 14&U swimmers were invited to compete in a dual meet with FRST, at Franklin Community High School.  Arjun Agarkar, 10, swam to two personal records (“PRs”) and swam on two relays for Club Olympia. Sarthak Deshmukh, 8, dropped four seconds for a new 50 Free PR. Cali Gray, 8, dropped an unheard-of 16 seconds in the Girls 10&U 50 Back.

Saya Hauser, 13, had another PR in the Girls 13-14 100 Free, improving her Divisional cut time achieved a little over a week ago at the FAST 500 meet. Aubrey Hernandez, 12, swam to two personal records including a two-second drop in the Girls 11-12 100 Free and nearly 8-second drop in the 100 Back. Nandini Kondhare, 12, swam to a five-second improvement in the Girls 11-12 200 Free.

Shreyan Kulkarni, 9, PR’d in the Boys 10&U 50 Fly and 100 Free. Tony Machavariani, 9, dropped just under a 1/3 second in the Boys 10&U 50 Back. Emily Meek, 8, had a PR in the Girls 10&U 50 Back.

Lane Mellencamp, 14, still swimming “Unattached-Club Olympia,” as he is in his 120-day transfer period, achieved best times in the Boys 13-14 100 Back and 200 IM. Jasper Nickoll, 14, swam best times in both the Boys 13-14 100 Free and 100 Back. Aksh Ranjan, 13, PR’d in the Boys 13-14 100 Breast.

Chad Pendleton, 7, was PR’d in the Boys 10&U 50 Back with a three-second time drop. Joshua Pendleton, who had just returned from the Duel in the Pool in Texas, was still able to swim to a new best time in the Boys 11-12 100 Breast. Lily Pendleton, 10, added to her Divisional cut collection with a new cut in the Girls 10&U 50 Fly. Bella Zhang, 7, achieved best times in both the Girls 10&U 50 Back and 50 Free with nine and seven-second drops respectively.

Other Club Olympia swimmers that had a strong showing despite just competing for a little over a week ago at the FAST 500, were Aarush Datar, 7, Aahan Gupta, 8, Aahana Ingole, 8, Myra Jaryal, 6, Adir Joshi, 10, Vidita Keskar, 11, Sanaa Kulkarni, 13, Teddy Machavariani, 7, Shourya Malviya, 10, Lovely Panda, 13, Vivan Shah, 8, and Xavier Zhang, 10.

Next up is a trip to Annapolis, Maryland as several club members have been invited to attend the exclusive Age Group and Senior Elite swim camps hosted by Team Indiana at the United States Naval Academy.  Club Olympia will also have several members competing at the Central Zone Multi-Cultural meet in Evansville, Indiana, in mid-June, as well as contributing several swimmers to Team Indiana’s effort at the Open Water Zones competition in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Club Olympia’s next major club competition will be at the historic and beautiful Riviera Club in downtown Indianapolis in late June.
