Three COST swimmers returned to competition for the first time since last high school season in last weekend’s Return to the Nat meet at IUPUI’s Indiana University Natatorium.

Entries were limited to 50 swimmers for each of the three sessions per day. Club Olympia swimmers Brady Beyer, Nalanie Cortez and Ashley Freel competed in the session for Speedo Sectional qualifiers.

Beyer led Club Olympia with first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, swimming a personal-best time in the 100. Beyer also placed third in the 200 backstroke, fourth in the 200 butterfly, seventh in the 200 individual medley and 14th in the 200 butterfly.

Cortez was coming down with a sinus infection, but still placed second in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle; sixth in the 200 butterfly, 11th in the 100 butterfly and 13th in the 200 IM.

Freel had four personal-best times in her six events. She finished third in the 50 freestyle; fourth in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly; and 12th in the 200 IM.
