Club Olympia Competes in Indiana Swimming’s Age Group and Senior State Championship Meets

During the last two weeks, ten Club Olympia athletes competed in Indiana Swimming’s 2023 Long Course Championships for Age Group and Seniors at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.   Club teams from around the state gather at the end of each summer to determine the best swimmers who have met tough qualifying standards in the state of Indiana in the long course 50 Meter pool setting.   The competitions are broken down into “Age Group State” for male and female swimmers 14 and younger and “Senior State” for any swimmer who has met the senior qualifying times.

Josh Pendleton, aged 13, led Club Olympia at Age Group State competing in the 13-14 division.  Pendleton finished on the podium and medaled in the 800 and 1500 Freestyle events, placing 8th in both.  Pendleton’s finishes also included 10th in the 200 Fly, 13th in the 400 IM and 400 Free, and 18th in the 200 IM with lifetime best times in all six events.

Connelly Furnish, aged 14, finished on the podium in 7th place in the 1500 Free. Furnish was 9th in the 800 Free, 15th in the 400 Free, 20th in the 400 IM, 23rd in the 200 Free and 30th in the 200 IM.

Eight year old Chad Pendleton, competing in the 10U division, was 12th in the 200 Free, 14th in the 100 Free, 18th in the 200 IM, 20th in the 100 Fly, and 38th in the 50 Back with three lifetime best times.  

Aahan Gupta, also competing 10U, placed 12th in the 100 Fly and 19th in the 200 IM, both lifetime bests.

Shreyan Kulkarni, competing in the 11-12 boys division placed 19th in the 200 Back, 26th in the 100 Back, and 30th in the 200 IM, all lifetime best times.  

Camila Mejia Murguia, who qualified for six events, placed 20th in the 50 Fly, 26th in the 100 Fly and 200 IM, 27th in the 50 Free, 28th in the 200 Free, and 33rd in the 100 Free.  

Rebeca Mejia Murguia placed 47th in the 50 Free.

At Senior State, where many of the states top high school and collegiate swimmers compete, Ty Mayer placed 40th in the 1500 Free, 65th in the 200 Fly, and 86th in the 200 Free, all personal best times.

Annie Murer was 57th in the 400 Free, 76th in the 200 Free, 79th in the 200 IM, and 94th in the 100 Free, achieving best times in three of her four races.

Judah Nickoll was 85th in the 100 Back and 200 Free, 92nd in the 100 Free, and 102 in the 50 Free, all in lifetime best times.

This weekend, Club Olympia has over 30 swimmers competing in the Indiana Swimming Southeast Divisional Championship meet at Center Grove Aquatic Center to wrap up the 2023 Summer Long Course Season.
