CLUB OLYMPIA COMPETES WELL AT ANNUAL CARMEL FALL FRENZY SWIM MEET

Nearly 50 Club Olympia swimmers spent this past weekend at the IU Natatorium competing in the Carmel Swim Club Fall Frenzy. This annual invitational attracts top teams from Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. Club Olympia ended the weekend in sixth place, the second best team from Indiana behind the much larger host team, Carmel Swim Club. Club Olympia once again achieved outstanding results with its 12&U age group swimmers.  

Leading the way was Shreyan Kulkarni (10) who placed top 3 in all seven of his events including 1st in the Boys 10&U 200IM, 2nd in the 50 & 100 Fly, 100 & 200 Free, and 3rd in the 50 & 100 Breast.  Camila Mejia Murguia (10) placed top 5 in seven events winning the Girls 10&U 100 Fly, placing 2nd in the 50 Free & Back, 3rd in the 50 Fly, 100 Free, and 200 IM, and 4th in the 100 Back.  Rebeca Mejia Murguia (10) finished 2nd in the Girls 10&U 100 Fly, 3rd in the 50 Free, 4th in the 50 Fly, and 5th in the 100 Free and 200 IM with two other top 10 events. Eight year old Emily Meek also claimed seven top 10 finishes with a 3rd in the 8&U 25 Free, 4th in the 25 Back and 50 Free, and a 5th place finish in the 50 Fly.  

Joshua Pendleton (12), swimming just five events on the weekend, placed 2nd in the Boys 11-12 200 Free, 3rd in the 100 Fly, and 4th in the 100 Back.  

Arjun Agarkar (10) finished top 10 in four Boys 10&U events, Myra Jaryal (7) finished top 10 in three 8&U events. Chad Pendleton (8), competing on a limited schedule claimed three top 10 finishes with a 2nd in the Boys 8&U 25 Free and 5th in the 25 Back. Xavier Zhang (10) also had three top 10 finishes with a 3rd in the Boys 10&U 200 Free and 4th in the 100 Back. Sarthak Deshmukh (8) and Shourya Malviya (10) both finished top 10 in three events.  Lily Pendleton (10) had one top 10 finish.

Club Olympia senior swimmers, competing in the open division against stiff competition from the host club Carmel, as well as Cardinal, Lakeside and Triton out of Louisville, and three of Ohio’s top club teams, Cincinnati Marlins, Cincinnati Aquatics, and Central Ohio Aquatics, were again led by sixteen year old Ashley Freel.  Freel claimed five top 10 finishes in seven Womens Open events, including a 2nd place finish in the 100 Fly, 4th in the 50 Free, and 5th in the 200 Fly.  

Brady Beyer (17), training with Club Olympia this Fall and swimming unattached in Indiana to maintain his club affiliation in California, took 1st place in the Mens Open 400 IM, 2nd in the 1650 Free (Mile), and 3rd in the 200 Breast.

On Friday afternoon, four Club Olympia athletes in addition to Beyer, competed in the Open 1650 Yard (Mile) Freestyle distance event. Connelly Furnish (13), took fourth overall in the Women’s Open Division.  Misha Machavariani (15) placed 20th, Ty Mayer (16) 22nd, and Todd Hundley (15) 30th, all in the Men’s Open Division.

Additional Club Olympia Swimmers competing on the weekend included Amelia Arul, Advika Badve, Pratt Badve, Zoie Chandelkar, Hannah Dean, Jonathon Dettmer, Cali Gray, Neeti Gujarathi, Ethan Hall, Saya Hauser, Aubrey Hernandez, Aahana Ingole, Adir Joshi, Sanaa Kulkarni, Rayaan Malviya, Luke Miller, Annie Murer, Vibha Nagiligari, Jasper Nickoll, Kay Payne, Rylan Perkins, Eva Rayomand, Ricky Singh, Keaton Stephenson, Cavan Stilson, Max Tempest, Aarash Thokade, Daxton Wolf, Alicia Xue, and Bella Zhang.
