CLUB OLYMPIA TAKES THIRD AT THE 2022 CENTER GROVE AQUATICS CLUB JINGLE BELLS CLASSIC

With nearly 25 of its club swimmers currently competing for their area high school swim teams, Club Olympia entered the 2022 Jingle Bell Classic Swim Meet at Center Grove High School with 35 age group swimmers.  These 14&U athletes performed well enough throughout the three-day event to capture third place overall against 15, mostly much larger, teams from Indiana, Illinois and Ohio.    

Three swimmers, Vivan Shah (8), Camila Mejia Murguia (10) and Connelly Furnish (13) won the high point awards in the 8&U Boys, 10&U Girls, and 13-14 Girls divisions respectively.  Rebeca Mejia Murguia (10) took 2nd in high points in the 10&U Girls behind her sister Camila. Seven-year-old Myra Jaryal took 3rd in the 8&U Girls Division and Josh Pendleton (12), competing in events on only two of the three days, still managed to capture third place high points for 11-12 year old boys after strong swims on Friday and Saturday.

In the 8&U Boys Division, Shah was a perfect 10 for 10 in individual events winning the 25 Free, Fly, Breaststroke and Backstroke, the 50 Free, Fly, Breaststroke and Backstroke, and the 100 Free, and Individual Medley. Chad Pendleton(8), took 2nd in the 50 Free, Breaststroke, and 100 IM and 3rd in the 25 Backstroke, and 4th in the 25 Fly.  Sarthak Deshmukh (8) was 3rd in the 25 Breaststroke, 4th in the 50 Fly, and 5th in the 25 Free, with two other top 10 finishes. Myra Jaryal placed 2nd in the 25 Fly, 3rd in the 50 Free and 25 and 50 Breaststroke, and 4th in the 25 Free and Backstroke, 50 Fly, and 100 Free and IM in the 8&U Girls division.  Also competing for Club Olympia in the 8&U Boys and Girls divisions were Neeti Gujarathi, Aahana Ingole, Rayaan Malviya, Eva Rayomand, Max Tempest, Arash Thokade, and Bella Zhang.

In the 10&U Girls Division, Camila Mejia Murguia took 1st in the 50, 100, and 200 Free, and the 50 and 100 Fly, 2nd in the 50 and 100 Backstroke and 200 IM, and 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke and 4th in the 50 Breaststroke.   Rebeca Mejia Murguia placed 2nd in the 50 and 100 Breaststroke, 3rd in the 50 & 200 Free and 50 Backstroke, 4th in the 100 Fly and 200 IM, 5th in the 50 Fly and 100 Backstroke.  Lily Pendleton finished 5th in the 200 Free with four other top 12 finishes.  

In the 10&U Boys Division, Shreyan Kulkarni (10), swimming on just two days of the three day meet, claimed 2nd place finishes in the 100 Free and Fly, 4th in the 200 IM, and 5th in the 50 Backstroke.  Arjun Agarkar (10) took 5th in the 100 Fly and claimed four other top 10 finishes. Aahan Gupta had two top 10 finishes.  Other competing in the 10&U Boys and Girls Divisions were Cali Gray, Vivaan Gupta, Shourya Malviya, Emily Meek, Turner Mellencamp, Kay Payne, and Chris Suo.

In the 11-12 Boys Division, Josh Pendleton placed 2nd in the 50 Free, 50 Fly, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 200 Free and 200 IM and claimed 8th in the Open 1650 Yard (Mile) event. Others swimming in the 11-12 boys and girls divisions on the weekend for Club Olympia included Jonathon Dettmer, Aubrey Hernandez, Ricky Singh, Graesyn Steinkoenig, Daxton Wolf and Xavier Zhang.

In the Open Division for athletes 13 years and older, Furnish took first in the 500 Free, 2nd in the 200 IM and 1000 Free, 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke & 400 IM, 4th in the 200 Free and 200 Fly, with 3 other top 10 finishes.  Zoie Chandelkar (13) placed 5th in the 1650 Yard (Mile) event with four additional top 15 finishes. Sanaa Kulkarni (13) claimed two top 15 finishes. They were joined by Advika Badve (13).

Club Olympia Relay Teams had strong performances over the weekend as well with two wins and multiple top five finishes. For the 8&U Relays, the team of Aahana Ingole, Myra Jaryal, Bela Zhang, and Eva Rayomand placed 3rd in the Girls 100 Medley Relay.  For the 8&U Boys, Max Tempest, Vivan Shah, Chad Pendleton and Arash Thokade finished 2nd in the 100 Medley while Sarthak Deshmukh, Thokade, Tempest, and Shah took 2nd in the 100 Free Relay.  

Shourya Malviya, Aahan Gupta, Arjun Agarkar, and Shreyan Kulkarni took 1st in the Boys 10&U 200 Free Relay. Gupta, Chris Suo, Malviya, and Agarkar placed 3rd in the 10&U 200 Medley Relay.  The 10&U Girls team of Lily Pendleton, Kay Payne, Camila Mejia Murguia, and Rebeca Mejia Murguia took 1st in 200 Medley Relay and 5th in the 200 Free Relay with Emily Meek, Cali Gray and the Murguia sisters.  The Girls Open Relay teams of Zoie Chandelkar, Sanaa Kulkarni, Advika Badve and Connelly Furnish finished 7th in the 200 Medley and 10th in the 200 Free Relays.
